MEMBERSHIP

Membership continues to grow with SEVENTY members – 15 more than last year’s total, but not quite our goal of seventy-five. We need everyone’s assistance to continue to grow our membership, and with your contribution the Chamber continues to be more active and effective – this creates demonstrated value added and will lead to additional members. We welcome our newest members: Green Hills Community Action Agency and the Harrison County Health Department.

If you are a member that is not currently active the Chamber can sure use your involvement and encourages you to join us at the Chamber office for our regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month from noon – 1:00 pm for a working lunch. Meals are catered and cost $5 per person. If you are not currently a member we invite you to join. Everyone is welcome!

2009 Officers. The slate of officers for 2009 is being worked. If you want to volunteer yourself or someone else let Jeff know.

LED Message Board. We’ve acquired the message board that was approved at our last meeting so be looking for it in the Chamber Office window. It will be used at our events to promote members, sponsors and the Chamber.

President’s Note

We continue to make significant strides on our 2008 goals, and with everyone’s continued efforts we will closeout the year strong.

Welcome and thanks again to our new members, and to our sustaining members

Sincerely,

Jeff Nichols, President

Boo in the Park

The Chamber had another tremendous success with the second annual Boo-in-the-Park. Tim Micheal and his team did a terrific job, along with Mother Nature providing us excellent weather.

Upcoming Events

Business After Hours. BTC Bank will be hosting the next business after hours event. The date is to be determined, but the hope is to have it before the holiday season arrives.

Tourist/Information Center. We are making steady progress on partnering with the City of Bethany to get a semi-portable building constructed. A location that will provide the best visibility is still being worked.

Farmer’s Market. The Chamber is exploring the idea of establishing a farmer’s market and will further discuss the idea at the November meeting.

Career and Job Fair. Progress is being made by Susie and her committee to host our first career and job fair at South Harrison High School in the late winter.

Great Northwest Day. The planning has started for the Great Northwest Day at the Capital which takes place on February 3 rd.

Susie has taken the lead on this and attended a recent Bethany City Council meeting to promote participation. The event is one of the best opportunities we have to highlight Bethany and Harrison County to the powers in Jefferson City.

Christmas-in-the-Park. The Chamber is again partnering with the City of Bethany Parks Department to host Christmas-in-the-Park on Saturday, December 6 th. This will include caroling, arrival of Santa, lighting of the park Christmas lights and several prize drawings. The Chamber is soliciting donations for prizes - an item, gift card/certificate, cash, candy canes, etc.  Any cash donated will be awarded in "Chamber Bucks" to be used only at businesses of chamber members.  If you would like to make a donation please contact Patty at the Chamber Office, and if we don't hear from you Patty will call to remind you .
